Fair enough, Cap'n - I used Chambers which gives 'castOr' first, Collins gives 'castOr' as the British variant & OED (Online) which doesn't give 'castEr (sugar)' at all - personal choice then? :-)

caster sugar
Caster sugar
'castOr' is the more usual British spelling, one would hope either would be accepted though
I've always spelled it 'Caster' - as do Tate & Lyle ;))
Caster
LiK - even if you type 'castor sugar' in Google, all the results are for 'caster' (well on my 'puter anyway)

Indeed it is LiK; as they say 'tha pays tha money and tha makes tha choice'

Collins does indeed say that "castor sugar" is the British spelling of caster sugar and as "castor" is a wheel, then perhaps this is the answer the compiler is looking for.

Many thanks all.
