it's really odd that every business model referenced in the press recently relies on the acquisition of staff from outside the UK. so can we assume that every firm in london - including the big multinationals - have a training budget of zero, and have no interest at all in training potential staff from within?

Anyone foolish enough to vote to have a mayor deserves everything that they get.

A mayor ought not have authority to affect national border controls by issuing visas so either the story is in error or there's a loophole that needs plugging.

People from other countries have always come to the UK to work and they always will. Once again, this arrogant mayor is over-stepping his remit. I hope the government puts him in his place.

And how is he going to police this? Unless they fly directly into London City Airport to just walk through, they will have to go through border controls at every other port or airport or station etc.

He is getting carried away with himself. Looking at his speeches at the conference he is clearly positioning himself ready for when Jezza falls flat on his face. perhaps he should remember what happened to the ambitions of another London Mayor?
