Thanks, Balric. I wonder what happened to mine.
Question Author
Baldric, that is.
No passport stuey?

Should have left a gap before the http, best to put links on a line on their own.

What?

Thanks again, Baldric. I was born in the Pottery are: Newcastle-under-Lyme. However, I don't think that the town is classed as one of the Pottery towns. My parents never took us to Leek, so I never saw this place.
Great site stuey and Baldric. It was still popular in the 50s, and I remember a bus ride up there with my paternal grandparents as a very young boy. The people must have been made of iron back when, as it can be mighty cold up there even in the summer. Trentham became our city day out and Wesport Lake was within walking distance for fishing and mischief as a young lad. (aged 8 to 12 or 13) When Wesport froze over one winter we lads had our own ice speedway going with the tyres taken off our bikes. Putting them back on to go home was a birch, freezing cold, iced up, knackered rims all banged up. Happy days.

We lived in Clayton, and as kids we'd sneak into Trentham Gardens through the fields at the "back" of them. I was quite fond of that railway they had.
The open air pool with the high board was a treat stuey. We thought we had invented ogling as youngsters. Some of those "pot bank girls" were fit as... what with the hard labour that went with some of the work.

I'm assuming that they weren't shaped like kilns:)
Yeah two, top front stuey.

It's great to reminisce, Togo: It brings back fond mammaries.
Haha fangs for the mammary. (Sorry Mamya)
Moi?

In an earlier post, I mentioned crossing a field to get into Trentham Gardens; I'm now going to cross another field to get into some wobbly-pops...Cheers.
I used to go up there regularly with late husband. He introduced me to a fantastic pub called the Mermaid. It was run by a fantastic German landlady called Maria. We had some memorable nights there.
The scenery has to be seen to be believed.
Caran I could tell you stories. The Mermaid is where a lady 5 yrs older than I, when I was 18, used to pick me up and drive us up there. Wellllll it turned out to be Ginger Baker's (or one of them) girlfriend. I baled out, because I knew what was good for me. He was in with a heavy crowd even then in 1966. I did miss her brand new mini cooper though ;-)
Thanks Baldric. Ah the days of yesteryear. Things seem better then. Please leave my rose tinted glasses alone.oh, for a time machine.
