Orbic?
London? - (a)lon(e) + don ?
Question Author
What is Ringrose? If it's orbic, the 6 letter clue is ?O?C?D and London is wrong. The D at the end is from GRANDAM, which I assume is right: Complicated anagram with name for a mature woman G?A???M
Grannam (alt.of grandam )- anagram of ANAGRAM with N for A
Orbed?
grannam = grandam (anagram of anagram with 'n' substituted for an 'a'
Could it be orbit?
sorry Calibax, had not refreshed
Question Author
It's now O?B?D so ORBED fits. Orb is a spherical shape, but why is "ED" "when dressed" and what is "as Ringrose"
Question Author
Ringrose will be based on John Ringrose as the puzzle has a theme of London Mathematical Society...
Question Author
Ah, I bet Ringrose is ROBED when he becomes a president of the London Mathematical Society which is an anagram of ORBED. I bet this is the answer. Thanks to all for their help
