Oh no 2-2 ;o)
I'd say farther as it more associated with distance, whereas further is in addition to or following on from
Sorry
Farther | Define Farther at Dictionary.com dictionary.reference.com/browse/farther - 15 hours ago more distant or remote than something or some place nearer: the farther side of the mountain. 5. extending or tending to a greater distance:
further
ˈfəːðə/
adverb
1.
at, to, or by a greater distance (used to indicate the extent to which one thing or person is or becomes distant from another).
"for some time I had wanted to move further from London"
synonyms: at a greater distance, more distant, farther
"Orkney is further from the mainland than the Western Isles"
In the context of the clue I would happily use either word.
Oh, the nuances of the English language.
True is that and I still don't know them.
Further to previous answers, I think I come down on the 'fArther' grammatically; but I think 9/10 of us would, in speech, say 'fUrther'

Farther than that I don't think I can add anything further ;-)))
Groan
" Move farther down the bus" - " That's not my Father.............."

I'll get me coat.
