One question left to do. All answers contain a disguised number, for example "one" in the answer "nonentity".

Question 17 "Emptying one's hand of cards as in Parliament".

Thank you in anticipation

One is there as well...
Are the other answers as obvious as the example?.
I was wondering that to, Davemano.
Because I can see ten in parliament.
That's the question - I think the 'hidden number'is in the answer.
Par is a number used in golf?
Mamya I can't quite see what you're getting at, but it would be interesting to see a complete answered clue. Is there more to the example.
Sorry,I must be wrong - Littlebrock says one question left to answer and the answer contains a number.

Then gives us a question.

can't explain any better than that.
Sevens is a card game (also known as Parliament) where the object is to empty ones hand. Sevens contains the number "seven"

Any good ?
So I had the gist - well done!
Mamyalyne is right - the number is hidden in the ANSWER, not in "Emptying one's hand of cards as in Parliament" which is the QUESTION.
That's excellent Canary but it certainly makes the example look farcical.
We didn't see the question that brought that answer though- that would have explained it better.
Mamya - sorry, I was on a different track - I'll blame age and time of day.
The shortened word for sine. Sin is in there aS IN parliament does it count as a number ?

I have created some confusion. Here is another question: Small ovens eaten at the end of a meal. Answer is petite fours which contains four.
Do you shout "sevens" when you have played all your cards?
>Do you shout "sevens" when you have played all your cards?

Is that another clue? Or is it just a question you are posing to help confirm an answer you are considering?
Just seen that this relates to a clue discussed earlier

Reply to fiction-factory. I am wondering is sevens is the answer.
Littlebrock, I was confused but it was my own fault for not reading the clue properly. You didn't cause it, your posting was quite in order. Both Canary and Mamya were spot on, and the explanation given by Canary fitted the clue exactly i.e that Sevens is also called Parliament where the object is to clear your hand.

Thank you for your responses. I am going with Sevens.
