No, I would find it more draining to drive the 40 mile round trip to my nearest bank

All over-the-net services are at risk of complication & hassle, but most aren't as bad as they might be most of the time.

I minimise it until in all local areas all banks decide that providing a service is not what they're there for, and the public can keep away.

I only use banking apps on my mobile phone now - easy peasy.

It's just you, I find it very simple and convenient. I would find it draining to actually have to go to a bank.

The first time I deposited a cheque on my phone I felt a bit dubious but it worked fine. Actually saved me around £7 in fuel and parking if I'd had to drive to the bank.

cheque? Where did you get that? haven't seen one for years!

Of course, had the bank not closed the branch down the road you may not have needed to drive anywhere; just pop in while you'd gone shopping.

Keep practicing. It gets easier.

Khandro, what do you find "Draining"? Maybe we can help.

I've been using online banking for years and it saves me a lot of time and effort.

So easy to move money between accounts, pay people by bank transfer and I like checking my current and credit accounts every day - takes a couple of minutes.

I can't remember the last time I went to a bank.

Apart from making banking easier and transactions immediately visible, my HSBC bank app also has a great customer service for any questions. If it's chatbot it's a very clever one. 👍

It's getting in to it I find stressful. They (Halifax) send a four numbered code to my PC screen which I have to say out loud or tap in to the phone. I do it either way and correctly then get the recorded voice saying I've put in the wrong number and I'm disconnected. I did that this morning three times before I could gain access.

As not getting into my account today would have cost me, by the time it's done, I feel wrecked.

I don't know if being outside of the UK causes this, but it's becoming the norm.

Mr. J2 has given up on it - after having used it for years in France and here. He kept getting his account blocked because of all the security. I used on-line banking when in France - but gave up when I moved here. Far too complicated- especially with very weak phone signals.  We ended up with me traipsing round outside in the rain trying to get a signal to receive a code which I then had to get back to tell Mr. J2 within a short time. We can do without all that, thanks.

I use biometric verification - fingerprint recognition.

Mine's brilliant.  So easy to use.  I'm sorry OG but I think the problem might be you.  I've used 3 of them with no problems at all.

I use fingerprint and occasionally I have to input a 4 digit code they send to my phone.

Best thing since sliced bread, imho.

I use the Halifax App on my phone with fingerprint recognition. It works first time that way so try to change the login if you can to fingerprint.

Maydup: Thanks but I don't have a smart phone, just a simple mobile. I have a PC & a laptop as well. I had once a smart phone but found it too fiddly & gave it to one of my daughters.

You can buy a fingerprint recognition device that plugs in to a usb on your pc or laptop, maybe that would help
