Despite being a bit chilly, and a bit windy, it's really busy on the beach. There are hundreds of people in deck chairs.

Hmmm

Where have all these people come from?

We don't have any large numbers of people in town, do we?

Oh wait, hang on ...

No, surely not the trots. They will all be in the scuzzy Brighton Centre, paying rapt attention to the speeches.

Or

"I'm away at the conference this week, Dear. Goodbye"

* sits on the beach*

*goes in the pub*

*has fish and chips*

*scours Kemptown for a naughty encounter*

*tries to get female conference delegate into bed*

*spends money in pervy sex shop*

*goes back to hotel to watch porn*

*buys newspaper to see what happened at conference yesterday*

*sits on beach again*

"Hello, Dear. Conference was quite a drag this year, but one has to be there on these important occasions."

Mais oui !
thing is, fluff, if people sit on beaches, passersby like Jayne somehow assume they're actually in pervy sex shops, despite the evidence of their own eyes.

Perhaps you need to find a venue where the local have less overheated imaginations, and more work to do.

Bit harsh.

But probably a fair comment.
