Just been pulled over by the Police and breathalysed as part of the Summer Drink Drive Campaign in Wales. My reading was zero (- as it should have been since I haven't had a drink since 1989) but the message is simple - If you are thinking of having a drink, please don't drive.

It's worth remembering about the morning after too. You could easily still be over the limit even if you feel fine.

I don't know if it's a nationwide thing but round here if you get pulled over and are found to have no insurance, the police stick a huge post in the back window of the car saying 'no insurance' while they wait for it to be towed away to shame you. I...

Now, now, Rowan - careful!!
Safe to say now i have helped Redman escape... But I agree with the no drinking at all idea...no chance of confusion or miscalculations...
I don't drink and drive.
..mmm...thought they had to have just cause to suspect you had been drinking before they could breathalyze you?

driving in Wales without a Welsh sticker that would be cause enough
I think the inflatable sheep in the passenger seat also helps avoid being stopped ...

commoner - personally, I don't have a problem with random stops and I think any responsible driver would probably think the same way. If you've got nothing to hide, where's the problem?
And the plaid cymru sticker in the rear window
In theory I agree Welshie - but 'random' stops have sometimes been used rather less than randomly to harrass (innocent) individuals ...
A friends daughter was stopped frequently she was in her early 20s but looked about 12 the police seemed to think she was a joyrider... once she proved her age with id they would find other things to check...

Rowan - how many times have you been pulled over then, oh hang on, you don't drive do you?

Sunny-dave - totally agree with you on that one
I've been pulled over twice. Breathalysed once (passed, of course)

Both times I was pulled over because of my tax disc.
i got stopped once when travelling from kent to somerset about 3 am. (i was probably near the speed limit.) would rather they pulled people over than let a drinker possibly kill or maim an innocent person.
What was the problem with the tax disc, ummmm ?
I drove pass a parked police bike and he thought I didn't have one. It was the wipers in the way.

The second time it fell off the screen so I had it on the dash.
Ah righto ummmm, these days they don't have to pull you over to check, DVLA computers and all that.
Yes...this was years back.
Thought it would be ummmm.
