I swore my allegiance to "Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the second, her heirs and successors" when i was in the army, so i suppose i've already done so. I'm still dithering on whether or not to accept the invitation to the ceremony. I'm told that Chas has invited me because he doesn't want to be the only one wearing a Burnley FC shirt on the day.

I doubt it. I’m a big fan of King Charles and the monarchy in general but this is a step too far for me, personally.
^I'll second that.
I swore allegiance to the Monarch at the beginning of my RAF career, once is enough.
Sounds a wee bit to Naziesque and nationalist for my liking. It sounds like something like the SNP would have us do up here in Scotland.
So pleased they're not asking us to bang saucepans! :o)
No way Jose!

Speaking about Guardian cartoons.Anyone on here know what happened to the anti-semitic cartoon they ran recently.I was looking for it on their website and it seems to have disappeared?
Ken, you've got to come. I'm saving you a seat.
it's been removed, as you may well know, ynnaf. Did you see it? Did you post a comment about it here?

Hastily moving in here...

No it isn't very British, is it. We would all be for the chop in a totalitarian state.

You really do have to go Ken (as in: yo'll regret not doing so, not as in "have to" :-) )
William's Villa shirt may be mistaken for a Burnley one too ...
Just asking jno.Just asking.
and I answered you, ynnaf. Now perhaps you would care to answer what I asked you?
No.Should i have?
Apparently we are supposed to ask that Charles lives forever.
Overblown farce rooted in the cesspit of history.

I'll be swearing all right.
As i said,Duggie. To SNPesque for my liking. If us Scots had been daft enough to vote for Indy back in 2014,we would all have been forced to swear allegiance to Randy and Virgin shortly afterwards.I think we missed a bullet there.
If this were the Middle Ages, maybe. As it isn't...no.
well, you are now, ynnaf. A bit late to be complaining after the problem has been sorted; it's called "being wise after the event".

Anyway, no, I won't be swearing allegiance. Remember the problem with William the Conqueror: so many soldiers shouting allegiance that others heard the noise, thought there was a riot, and went round burning down houses outside the abbey, just in case.
