Khafi Kareem ,a Met police officer asked for leave to go to Nigeria ( to take part in their version of Big Brither ) her request was turned down but she went anyway, whilst there she had sex with another housemate live on TV
My opinion, Yes she should be sacked,if you ask your employer for time off and you take it anyway , isn't that gross misconduct ?

Yes, I do, actually. My parents were *both* Police Officers and when you join you accept that being a Police Officer is pretty much a 24/7/365 occupation.

As far as I can see.... and I agree the link is not too clear. She asked for extended leave to go on a TV programme and was granted it, although without official "support" to go on it. But they were aware of her plans and still granted leave.
Time will tell, i think. Time will tell.

Unless she wins and becomes a TV star and doesn't want to go back to the force anyhow.
I am glad the focus isn't on her sexual relations, and is instead on her decisions to go against the response she received regarding her query if she could go on the programme.
Sorry, Danny, I thought you might know the professional view.

Read 5C then be my guest . You can trawl through this lot. We had to and abide by it on penalty of discipline proceedings which may result in dismissal.
That applies to all officers regardless of rank, gender or colour

Thanks retro x so there doesn't appear to be anything she has done wrong according to them.
//Retro I was addressing the question to anybody who might have relevant current knowledge.//

And I was answering to Spath who asked what rules and where could they be found.
//Thanks retro x so there doesn't appear to be anything she has done wrong according to them.//

Like Danny. I give up.
If you read something different, retro, feel free to say- obviously x
I'm still reading.
No. 5 should cover it.
Hardly!
Bringing a company or office into disrepute is a pretty standard reason for disciplinary action pretty much across the board. It doesn`t matter what people on AB think - it's what the company or in this case the police think. Same in my company and many others - if I did what she is doing my *** would be out of the door so fast that my feet wouldn`t touch the ground.
It is up to them of course. I don't imagine anyone will think less of the Met for this, except for the way they have handled it. Nothing illegal, no disrepute and not associated with them. Obviously, some of us just won't agree on this, but I imagine (hope) the Met are more professional as employers.
"except for the way they have handled it."

eXSACTLY.
But there is no disrepute so 5 doesn't get a look in.

(Jack's parents must've been raking in the overtime pay.)
I'd have thought that 6a is retro's point. If she wore her police uniform as part of the appearance then surely that's a breach right there.

It's poor judgement, in any case, on her part. Sackable? Perhaps not of itself, but now that the story's rolling it will surely be a huge distraction and strain on her ability to do the job effectively anyway.
Yes, I agree the uniform shouldn't be worn unless working.
The very fact that her uniform was being bandied about absolutely associates her with them.
Pixie; she wasn't granted leave to go on the tv programme. It says in the link that she was granted unpaid leave for an unrelated matter, after having been denied permission to appear on the show.
