No you aren't alone, there are many who dislike this site for the fact it has user moderators, over the years when I have asked some if they know of forums without moderation where anything goes - the answer is usually, yes.

I think moderators are like policemen, you appreciate them when they are defending you, but you get cross when they apply the law against you.

Given the way some people would hi-jack each and every thread on the site and turn it into a petty snipe-fest worthy of a nursery playground, I for one am glad the moderator system is in place - and even more glad that the manifestly unsuitable are clearly never considered for the post.
