Always a joker, but the unfortunately thing is one can get their answer remove for cracking a joke.

I've just thought of how people can advertise for Christian or Jewish or Muslim flatmates without breaking the law. It's quite easy, and I bet many landlords do this.

This is illegal:

"Room to let in house near Finsbury Park station. Only Christians needs apply"

This is legal:

"Room to let in Christian household near Finsbury Park station."

Replace 'Christian' with any religious denomination.
If its a house share and the house owner/landlord is the resident then the owner occupier exception applies and the landlord can specify race/religion/gender so no need to do crafty ads.
Especially when that joke is racist eh AOG!!

i posted a link to gumtree and you can see how they are worded, ambiguous i guess.
Not at all, they all state it is a room to let as explained to you several times rooms in houses are treated differently to whole houses.
As you have been told if you are unhappy with it report them!
In the real world people would advertise without any caveats, and then choose who they like the best.
Just to expand on my answer above, if I only wanted white people, I wouldn't advertise that fact - but from the applicants I would be free to choose a white person....my prejudice would be utterly unprovable.
Personally I'd be happy with someone that just paid up regularly.

From experience it seems race/colour is not a barrier to legging it without paying your bills.
