Firstly, a_h is very fond of telling people to clam down, Talbot today, me the other day, I wonder who will be next. Secondly, what a scream Islay saying she can't understand why when someone on here is being bullied the Ed doesn't remove the posts, you mean like aog is bullied on a regular basis ??? And thirdly, I do not shop at Debenhams anyway, so have no need to boycott it, but might consider it if I did !

I have no problem at all with hijab (or indeed any other head covering) - I can see who I'm talking with and it's fine. The burka is another matter, it has no place in any society let alone a secular, western one.
Like others, I do take issue with the concept that the hijab equates to 'modest dress' which, by extension, means that not wearing one renders a woman 'immodest' - that's a load of fetid dingo's kidneys and deserves a firm rebuttal.

Thank you for bringing that matter up hereIam, I thought that when I read it, but when I mention the same, I am generally told "its not all about AOG".
Yet the 'usual suspects' continue to make it so, whenever I join in a debate.

You know, I have been out all day working, and have just come back from the Hospital and I am amazed that this thread is still going on !
Some women may want to wear a nice colourful Hijab and some may not. It is entirely up to them. Its doesn't matter a flying firkin to anybody else.

I fail to see why wearing the hijab is a barrier to integration.
Same as rastafarians with dreadlocks, Jewish men with kippahs or Sikhs with turbans.
Let's be honest...if you're the kind of person who sees a barrier because of dress, it doesn't matter what you wear, you will always have brown skin.
As someone once said on AB, a dog born in a manger is not a horse. With attitudes like that amongst some Brits, it matters not a jot if you traditional dress or not. You still won't be considered 'one of use'.
So with that in mind, if it were me, I'd probably continue to wear whatever I want.

naomi- you are talking nonsense and you never know it. Someone said my non-concern about Debenhams selling these was some sort of insult to those women who get beaten up. Mine wasn't a statement of my views- it was a question to try to ascertain why.
Can you tell me what on earth the idea of selling these things has to do with increasing the chances of women being beaten up by husbands. Probably not. It's another red herring thrown in by those who know they have no case against Debenhams. When some have lost an argument the best tactic they can come up is to divert the issue and ask another tangential question, or to ask a non-sequitur or to ask someone to defend something they didn't say. You are particularly 'good' at it.
