This is the newest and most deadly traffic offence. Time to start banning for first offence?

Let's face it ,driving and using a phone hands free or not , is very very dangerous, so many people have been injured and killed whilst doing so. Any one caught doing this should have their licence taken away for life .

Means nowt Andy. My DiL passed her test 24 years ago and never drove again for 18 years.
ALL people caught using a telephone whilst driving should immediately have their vehicle impounded to remove the dangerous moving item from the roads. It would be useless in this day & age to impound the phone as it is so easy to buy a replacement. Hit them where it hurts. Impound the vehicle for one month, then if the person commits the same offence again.
DESTROY the vehicle.

Then allow me to clarify - barring illness and holidays, I have driven a car an average of five days out of seven from then until now.

can we stop beating each other up on driving ability. That is irrelevant. I don't care if you are miss daisy or Lewis Hamilton, you are worse when using a phone (see link above). Use of a phone for calls hands free is just about acceptable. Talking with it stuck to your ear should be an instant 6 month ban, texting face twitting etc should be an instant 12 month ban. Simples
Is it confined to drivers? Whilst walking recently I saw a chap riding his bicycle down the street 'hands free' as he had mobile phone in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
B/D should know, he used to drive a tank.
Who's B/D?
I've driven a tank but it was a long time ago.

The Royal Marines are a little bit light on Tanks Onecell.

Didn't realise you were in your 60's Andy.
This may be useful for future..........it may have been missed.

Why would anyone archive that? Just curious.
You have not been moderated, I was actually trying to be helpful.

I shall refrain in future.
Sorry Naomi, missed your reply - I didn't archive it.

I remembered the warning, was glad to see it and remembered where it was.
And not for the first time. You're certainly on the ball, Mamyalynne. Congratulations. Admirable memory!
Thank you.
You're welcome.

Had not seen it before mamya, so thank you for bringing it to the front page as you do with so many things.
You're welcome, I only did it with good intentions not to offend.
