I am in no way prude, but why do they go out dressed in the way they do and feel it necessary to drink themselves into oblivion?

Not that young men and drink are any different, but we expect young women to behave in a way more befitting to the gentler sex.

Reading through the exchanges, I think that I observe everyone responding to each other based on their own personal experiences of life, which in turn are based on the amount of experiences they have had. In AOG's case - possibly our most senior contributor, and in his eighties, he sees a modern world where women (and men) behave in a very different way from the...

If the selection process involves physical strength or speed, I wouldn't expect as many women to pass it. Not sure why that's relevant to the thread, though.

No with an attitude like that, I don't suppose you have very much to be proud of Jim?

Ooh get you with your personal slights. I'm hurt now. So sad and painful.

I'll just go away and cry into all the things I have to be proud about.

/// Women don't need your (or my) regard AOG. Thinking that they do shows an inclination that they are considered unequal. ///

How the hell can showing regard for one, show that they are considered unequal?

Perhaps in your confused world, but certainly not in mine.
i find most of the responses on this thread most puzzling. The pictures in that article are surely disgusting by anyone standards. One really would expect a higher standard of behaviour from ANYBODY.
I think you need to look up the word 'patronising' AOG.

"How the hell can showing regard for one, show that they are considered unequal?"
How? ...by the way you differentiate AOG, that's how.

/// I think you need to look up the word 'patronising' ///

I have Zacs and here is the definition.

*** treat with an apparent kindness which betrays a feeling of superiority. ***

I don't think that I have treated any of these drunken women with an apparent kindness.

/// "‘She's a good-hearted girl,’ he said in a patronizing voice" ///

Neither this, since no one can hear the tone of my voice.

You've displayed an attitude which suggests that you think men should protect women and hold them in high regard. It's not your place (or mine) to suggest that women need our protection or regard.

//If trying to protect members of the opposite sex is classed as having an archaic attitude, then criticise me//

I did.
"You've displayed an attitude which suggests that you think men should protect women and hold them in high regard."
speaking as i woman i would rather that then men think i was a piece of dirt to be looked down on
"Perhaps in your confused world, but certainly not in mine"
You have clearly failed to understand Zac's post, that does not mean *he* lives in a "confused world".

re "Patronising"
Despite looking up and "explaining", it still appears that you don't fully understand the definition of the term.
Really bednobs?
It doesn't have to be one extreme or the other.

Look just PRANCE away, I am fed up with playing your silly little game.

Play with the Lego that Santa brought you.
Silly little game = I can't think of a suitable counter to your post. Shameful AOG.
Bednobs. Errrr.....ok. Are you sure you didn't miss out a word in your post?
I agree with bednobs and certainly expect my OH to protect me and I'm sure he feels the same.
