I think that its worth a try.....if time shows a reduction in discarded needles, a reduction in drug related crime and a reduction in drug related infection, then while I am sorry for the fact that its necessary, surely its better than the alternative.
It's a system worth trying .

I guess peace has broken out in the war on drugs.

///A plan for "heroin-assisted treatment" is also likely to get the green light.
Under that proposal, users would be GIVEN medical-grade heroin to inject under supervision///

If I've got this right, not only will they be provided with a 'Shooting Gallery'
they will be GIVEN the ammunition to shoot as well.
Does that mean The English Subsidy for the enrichment of Life In Scotland will increase?
Baldric. Quite right any monies spend in Scotland comes from the English , please continue !!! :-)

As I said at the time of the neverendum, if we had had the vote you would have been well indepentent by now.
Baldric is Brigadier Bufton-Tufton and I claim my five pounds.
Sadly. You are not entitled to vote. I often wonder why politicians / prime ministers wish Scotland to remain in the united kingdom. Do you know the answer baldric ?

Are you sure you qualify Doug, were you holding an up to date copy of Private Eye in your left hand when making the identification?
My question baldric, ?

I really can't see any benefit in you staying, but if you leave we will all be a bit better off.
Be fair, you've only been with us for just over 300 years and you've never made much effort to integrate.
;o)
You did not answer my question baldric. These " fix rooms" have been used successfully in many European cities for many years .
It will help take some of the problems from street level, but it will only work if they also provide more help for those who want to become drug free.

I do apologise, I do not know why politicians / prime ministers want you to stay when you do not bring a lot to the party.
All drugs should be 'decriminalised' please note this is VERY different from making them legal!
Legalising just means that they would be sold by companies as tobacco and alcohol are. Decriminalising means not prosecuting users so resources can be used to catch the importers and dealers. It could be be extended to supplying medical grade drugs free as long as they are taken under supervision as in 'fixing rooms'. This would mean there was no profit in anyone supplying illegal drugs, so the trade would cease. Addicts could then gradually become drug free under medical supervision.
//Decriminalising means not prosecuting users //

yes, but where would you draw the line? plain possession or use, well ok. but bashing someone over the head in a robbery to feed their habit?
mushroom that’s not drug use, that’s GBH
