Weecalf....thanks....I didn't see that !

5 mins? Corbyn can beat that with his roll call of 'friends' before leading Labour!
Question Author
Agchristie....I must have missed it when Corbyn said how much he admired Putin !
// “I admire him from the point of view that he’s standing up for his country. He is very nationalist,” she said.//

Mmm.... Can't see where she's said she thinks Putin is an awfully nice chap. Do I detect just a smidgeon of spin going on here - and not only from the Guardian?
her screen name is Kay Jeebie innit ?

radio call sign - Gulag 2.
She has form there: she called him a "great nationalist" or similar, sometime ago.

We shouldn't be surprised in any case, as The Kremlin media is all over UKIP like a dog sniffing a rotten bone.
Actually those comments I referred to are quoted in the link ...
She's only one of many UKIP members who seem to think along the same lines.
I think it betrays a shallowness of thought rather than anything more sinister.
//she called him a "great nationalist" or similar, sometime ago. //

But she's right, isn't she? Both Churchill and Thatcher were great nationalists - as was Adolf Hitler. You don't have to agree with people or their politics to admire their commitment - and that, I think, is all she is doing.

Putin has always gets the very worst slant on whatever he does - he can't win with western media - especially the Grauniad.

Well, its not a very good start, for a new UKIP Leader is it ?

She has a laborious task only exceeded by Hercules clearing of the Augean Stables, in trying to clear up a basically broken Party. So you would have thought she could have avoided this entirely foreseeable tank trap.

To further quote from the article ::::

"Putin has attracted international criticism for Russia’s annexation of Crimea and its involvement in Ukraine, its support for the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria and alleged cyber-attacks on the other governments and the crushing of opposition at home. And she is admiring this man ?

I fail to see why she felt the need to make herself look stupid by mentioning Putin ?
He doesn't "stand up for his country" though.
He runs a corrupt kleptocracy while mouthing increasingly extreme nationalistic sentiments. Probably not because he believes it, but because he's clever enough to realise that it's good populist politics.
(Someone ought to ask Miss/Ms/Mrs James what she thinks of his doctoring of Russian history curriculum textbooks to airbrush out Stalin's crimes and present him also as a "great leader": perhaps she'd then replace Putin with Stalin in her top three:-) )
To the outsider looking in, who doesn't want to think too deeply about it, that might seem like something to put him on a par with Churchill. It betrays something fundamentally unpleasant I am afraid about UKIP, because let's face it these people DO admire him, of course they do. It suggests that they value nationalism above morality.
Or maybe she just wants to get headlines of course.

My God...it gets worse !

Admiring the commitment of Hitler ? A man that was "committed" to conquer as much of Europe as he could get away with, killing millions of people in the process !

This is far too weird for me !
Mikey, //This is far too weird for me ! //

Let's just say too difficult for you. Look up the word 'commitment'.
It occurs to me that that article is going to be a bit of a poser for West-hating Corbynite Guardian readers who also detest UKIP :-)
Who do they pontificate about more in the comments? :-)
We're in Newspeak territory here Mikey my boy
Hitler was, ahem, "committed".
Sadly, he wasn't, if you see what I mean ...

Maybe not weird, but oddly hilarious
Question Author
ichkeria.......the day that anybody says anything nice about Hitler on AB, is the day that the world has finally gone mad !

People will be saying that Peter Sutcliffe was "committed" to wiping out prostitution in Yorkshire next.

LOL! When Labour have more fractures than a skeleton that's been under a steam roller. Pretty poor attempt at deflection there mikey, must try harder.
