"Thomas Mair gave his name as "Death to traitors, freedom for Britain" when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court."

Now...where have I heard those words before ?

Let's hope this guy is declared fit for a very long sentence at Her Majesty's pleasure. Jo Cox looked like to have been the bright spark, the Labour Party needs right now. Prison is too good for this evil guy.

The big 'thing' about this murder is the threat to democracy. The public has unfettered access to their MPs through their open surgeries, for example, which just never happens in some other countries.

If an MP has to be escorted by security whenever he meets the public that will not only be expensive but inconvenient. Similarly if members of the public have to be vetted before a meeting with the MP.

If MPs are at real threat of physical harm that will be a huge threat to democracy.
I'm unsure it matters much where the insane get their justifications. If it wasn't one thing it'd have been another. The problem is the authorities' failure to identify the danger and ensure a tragedy is averted.
I'm not sure MPs should be meeting random local whingers in this day and age. (and lobbyists)
People have so many other avenues to whinge to nowadays. If they manage to exhaust all those avenues, we have many methods of communication. Then, the most worthy could be given an appointed meeting.
What say you lot?

vetusteennemi.....in what way have I ever been "anti-German" ?

And what has that to do with this thread ?
I say no. My representative ought to be available to communicate with me or they ought nit be there. They can have their bodyguard outside the door if they're concerned I might give them a problem.
I would hope the PM and the Cabinet would be too busy running the country, og, to worry about Mrs Miggins noisy neighbours or your trifles.
It's spelt r u i n i n g
Their job is to sort govermental issues related to their constituents.
I suppose if we stay in the EU, they will become glorified local ombudsmen.

It's to do with the accusation you made on THIS thread that people who disagree with you on Brexit and mass immigration are xenophobic and rabidly anti-Muslim, Mikey. Admittedly these two unjustified (and unjustifiable) insults are not as disgusting as the innuendo in the OP (and your Farage reference in another thread) that those who want to leave the EU are in someway complicit in or approving of Jo Cox's murder.

Anti-German? You're constantly banging on about Nazis, aren't you? I'd go as far as say you hate them? Correct me if I'm wrong.
What an ill considered thread ... shame on you mikey
Question Author
VE...there is nothing on this thread to do with Germany !

I want you to prepare yourself for a shock ....."You're constantly banging on about Nazis, aren't you? I'd go as far as say you hate them? Correct me if I'm wrong"

Yes....you are 100% correct !....Direct me to someone that likes Nazis !
Nearest I can get to answering the O.P. is Macbeth, Act IV, Sc, 2. Lines 44 to 52. McDuff's son talking to Lady Macb..

lines 49, 50 and 51

"And must they all be hanged that swear and lie?"
"Every one."

As I say, nearest I can get, sorry.

Well that is nearer than mikey has managed, jourdain.
But Hitler wouldn't have been able to do what he did without the support of the German people, Mikey.
Question Author
Well done Jourdain !

The only bits I can remember from the Scottish play are ::

"If it were done when 'tis done, then 'twere well
It were done quickly"

or maybe :::

"Something wicked this way comes"
:o) mikey
Lady M for Brexit?

"Out, out, ..."
She would have been - or stood for President! 'Bye Junker!
I think this might be what mikey is talking about!
