I've been involved with two major charities and resigned from both on principle. Other people's money is so easy to waste. I like Katy Hopkins.

Amazing how many people are made uneasy by straight talking upfront intelligent women!
intelligent !
On this occasion Ms Hopkins is right. All are worthy causes, but only so much you can give. Today I recieved an envelope in the post from the Heart foundation, with cards and a pen. I also received McMillan Nurse charity cards, a pen, a bookmark and a request for £5 or £10 etc. Yesterday out shopping one end of the store there was a charity bucket (I forget which one) to which I donated an then at the other end was a different one to which the OH donated. Where do you stop?

Glad you agree Mikey, at least I assume that's what your monosyllabic response was meant to convey

She's perfectly entitled to her opinions, there is room for streamlining within the larger charities I feel.

I have never had any problem refusing (politely) a street collector - well just once and I reported his actions to th Charity concerned.
Mikey, //Frightful woman with nothing interesting to say about anything......just a mouth on a stick. //

How do you know? I thought you said you don't listen to her.
Utterly obnoxious piece of trash although to be fair I doubt if she believes half of the nonsense she writes . She's just the hack version of a shock jock.
Anyway I'm going to donate to the children of Moldova just to spite her so she's done some good :-)

I like Katy Hopkins.
I've come to despise the BBC's Children In Need telethon.

It's not that I have any objection to the Children In Need charity nor to charity in general. I think both are good things.

What I object to is the massive, publicly funded Children In Need telethon that happens every single year on the Beeb. Why is Children In Need the only charity to receive the benefit of an entire night of programming and several weeks of promotion beforehand by the UK's biggest publicly funded broadcaster?

What about other charities? Where is their publicly funded telethon?

If it were up to me I'd have an annual all-night charity telethon for a different charity every year. One for Children In Need. Another for Cancer Research. One for Help For Heroes. One for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Etc.

To remove any bias, the lucky recipient charity could be chosen at random once a year by some overpaid celebrity who could dramatically push a button and make a ball fall out of an overly complicated piece of transparent plastic machinery.
I too like Katey Hopkins.

I don't agree with every word she says but I do find myself often agreeing with her on a whole range of issues. Her schtick is to phrase her arguments in a deliberately inflammatory way to elicit the maximum outraged reaction from the people who disagree with her.

Her style is entirely contrived. It is also extremely effective; evidenced by the fact that we're talking about her and that she's regularly in the news.
Some very practical and refreshing ideas there birdie.
I knew nothing at all about Katy Hopkins so decided to look her up on Wiki.

After reading the entry I have nothing but utter contempt for this odious person. She must be pretty bad for the UKIP to refuse her application for membership (three times ),and they appear to welcome plenty of nutters with open arms.
If they persist, invite them to go forth and multiply. Simples!
Such splenetic comments about Katy. Sometimes she's right, sometimes she's wrong. bubble gum journalism for the masses. State the obvious, stand back arms folded looking smug for photo. Knee jerk response is her Oxygen.
I don't often agree with KH but I do in this case.
I don't really see anything to be admired about being inflammatory.
All you are gong to do is polarise existing opinions. And it's so much easier than using ones brain - I've no doubt she is quite clever, which if the case just makes it worse
I like Ms Hopkins too.

I agree with her on this one and on quite a few other occasions, and I really hope she does genuinely believe what she says/prints.
She has my vote, saying what I dare not.
