I watched and observed the minutes silence while watching bbc news 24 with the sound turned down I was quite frankly taken a back with the number of people both in Tunisia and in the UK taking selfies on their phones during the 1 minute silence is it too much to ask people to refrain from using technology for 1 minute??

I saw someone (on the footage taken in Sousse) who was taking a photo during the silence. Is that the person you are referring to? It wasn`t possible to see if he was taking a picture or a selfie. Shame he couldn`t have put the camera down for a minute and just observed the silence. I guess he`ll be including the photo in his holiday shots!

Retro, your best post, I'll always think of you hopping In Sainsbury's
Think it was wishful thinking -I'm having to walk with a stick at the moment due to RA
You have my sympathy, back playing up here
lol I wish!
that was for DTC I'm not laughing at your bad back Psybbo!
After reading this thread I no longer think it's the heat making posters tetchy. I think some terrorist group has managed to cover the entire UK with some sort of airborne gas.

And why a minutes silence has managed to get up some posters nose to the extent it has is actually incredible.
A neighbour a few houses down from me was mowing his lawn, + didn't stop for the silence. I was going to give him a dirty look when I went out, but I forgot.
This is the 3rd (at least) thread about Tunisia this week and they have all turned nasty. Pretty much shows 'we' as a group have little respect doesn't it?
I was inASDA and despite the announcement Iappeared to be the only one to stop shopping and stand stii..even the tills kept working
I think must of us do, Prudie. I found it quite emotional. Take one minute and put yourself in their shoes, the dead, the survivors, the families....

I think silences make people reflect and maybe become more compassionate.
Oh Prudie,....has it turned into a nasty thread? I cba reading it all......;0

I'm outraged.
I was in Tesco's. There was a notice on the door about the minute's silence and members of staff reminded us as we wandered around.

At the appointed time everyone in the store fell silent apart from a crying baby and 2 ignorant, fat, tattooed disrespectful females in the frozen foods aisle, who carried on their loud conversation. I moved a few steps and put my finger to my lips to give a hint, someone else did the same at the other end - all to no avail.

At the end of the silence there were some choice comments made (I just agreed with them).

No, is the answer to the O.P..
Me too ummmm, I did exactly that today. Baths it was earlier in the thread. Just an observation.
the offenders were probably prospective ISIL emigrés or tacit supporters......
We were sitting outside a cafe in Wetherby today, the waitress took our order and said that they were observing the one minutes silence inside the cafe and our order would be served soon. Sure enough all the staff inside the cafe stopped work and held the silence, except quite a lot of the 'ladies who lunch' in there still chatted on. Quite a few people said later that while they were sorry for what happened in Tunisia and meant no disrespect, the one minute silence seemed a knee-jerk reaction considering every other atrocity that has taken place all over the world by those fanatics and has gone by unremarked.
I don't think the ones I was talking about had ever heard of ISIL, DCT! :)
We had ours outside the factory, all of the workers ( morning shift ) gathered on the car park. I think it had more impact that way.
Living alone was silent anyway
