Australia's Stance On Immigrants Arriving By Boat

Australia are refusing to accept immigrants arriving in rickety boats. I have read two articles on this but I am blowed if I can find the second one.
Anyway, since they started giving them the option of settling in Papua New Guinea, boats have miraculously stopped heading to Australia.
Should European countries adopt this policy?
What are your thoughts on the subject?

Not from me Mrs O, I sick of hearing about these bloody people expecting the world to help them with open arms.

I was just thinking about this yesterday, funnily enough, mrs o. If they had a luxury liner heading to Egypt, say. (guaranteed sanctuary) parked next to a rickety old boat heading to Europe, I bet I know which one they'd all get on.

Great minds.....
The news today has been dominated by the “migrant crisis” affecting southern Europe. All the agencies involved are urging governments and the EU to do something to bolster the rescue efforts aimed at plucking migrants from the drink. Sorry to disagree with them but the current wave of migrants is nothing short of an invasion of Europe and far from assisting the invaders the authorities ought to be devising ways of repelling them and returning them whence they came.

As far as the Australian model goes, I see no reason why Papua New Guinea should be saddled with the burden of illegal migrants heading for Oz but I suppose that’s for them to sort out with Australia. I cannot see the scheme working in Europe if, for no other reason, there is no equivalent to Papua New Guinea in the area. I suppose the (mainly) Africans who are heading here might be persuaded to try their luck in, say, Egypt or Saudi Arabia. They would not face the hazardous sea crossing which results in many of them perishing, but they may find their welcome a little less agreeable.

Nonetheless simply finding ways to facilitate their arrival and dispersal is not an option. If European governments feel pangs of morality in all of this they might think of the morality of allowing the continent to be invaded.

New Judge, having been to Papua New Guinea, I cannot understand why these people (I cannot bring myself to call them refugees as large numbers of them are simply 'chancers') are reluctant to settle there. The population is small and there would be plenty of room and land for them all. I have to admit it has its drawbacks - I had to have an armed guard with me at all times, and up in the remote hills there is the slight chance of ending up as someone's lunch.
Your suggestion of Saudi Arabia as an alternative to a European country is excellent. You really should consider standing as an MP
Callous, I am not, helping other's, I'm known for it, responsible, I am, the outcry regards these people that drowned, not our problem, they had the monies & they say it was £10.000 per family! correct me If I'm wrong, they had taken the choice to make this journey knowing that the consequences could be fateful, and it was, they population are like rabbits, breed breed breed, is that my fault? I planned to have 2 children, that was it, they plan to breed let them sort it out, I'm sick about hearing about these one way journey scroungers , that is the UK, Instead of sending Financial aid to these country's, send Durex to curb them S H A G G I N G themselves to death & expecting the rest of the world to pick up the bills, what the Italians should do, re boat the lot of them & take them back to where they come from, I'm expecting the H.Rs squad to start, if you that concerned about these people that's costing us money, start thinking about the money helping these people that should be used for the NHS & the likes.
The thing is, Mrs_0, these people purport to be seeking "safety" but when they arrive in a place of safety it is clear they are not seeking safety at all but an agreaable destination of their choice. This is not how "asylum" should work and the sooner somebody in Europe grabs the bull by the horns and explains this in no uncertain terms the sooner some progress will be made. But I'm not holding my breath.

The fact is that all politicians in all European nations are so obsessed with curing the rest of the world of all its ills that they have lost sight of the fact that their primary responsibility lies with ensuring the well being of their constituents. This has now reached such outrageous proportions that they are willing to see the continent overrun by a huge influx of foreigners who cannot be accommodated and who will profoundly reduce the quality of life of those already here.

There's no point in my standing as an MP because I don't share that obsession!
Haven't the Australians come to an agreement with Nauru to take some of the refugees?

I honestly expected too be shot down in flames for being racist/unfeeling/fascist etc in posting this.
I am pleasantly surprised so far!
The though of the sting from a well aimed Marigold inhibits criticism of you, Mrs O.
Not from me Mrs O, I sick of hearing about these bloody people expecting the world to help them with open arms.

Sandy, I hadn't heard of the arrangement with Nauru. I wonder how their benefits system works lol
I was standing by with one Marigold filled with sand and the other containing a housebrick, but neither has been needed so far

TWR, I think you speak for many
Plenty of room in Falklands. No shortage of water, fish & wildlife.
"I honestly expected too be shot down in flames for being racist/unfeeling/fascist etc in posting this. "

Thankfully, all that silly nonsense is beginning to wear off a little now and we are starting to see less of it. Maybe it's finally starting to get through to the people who suffer with this bizarre disorder after the recent and refreshing comments by people like Trevor Phillips and his view on the damage caused by 'pseudo-cultural political correctness' etc.

Either way, don't let these pest prevent you from posting or saying anything.
"I cannot see the scheme working in Europe if, for no other reason, there is no equivalent to Papua New Guinea in the area."

What about using Great Britain as an equivalent to Papua New Guinea New Judge? (unless that's what has been happening).
Mrs O read the link you posted, Papua New Guinea is NOT letting them in!
It is only allowing the boat to dock so that the refuges can be flown to
New Zealand and Naru, which have agreed to take them as a humanitarian gesture on a 'one off' basis.
In the EU migrants case, Libya where 90% of the boats come from, is not only refusing to allow them back the Libyan government is actively arranging for them to be shipped out to Europe.
In fact the Libyan government is threatening to deport 500,000 'migrants' a year on boats to the EU as a 'weapon' aimed at destroying the economy of Europe, who they see as an enemy of Islam.
Question Author
Eddie, in the 2nd link I mentioned, which I cannot find, the immigrants were given the choice of PNG or Cambodia
Cambodia was the same, just a landing place to get off the boat so they could be shipped to some where that would take them, it was never going to let them stay.
Once NZ and Nharu said they would take them Cambodia was out of the equation PNG has air links to both places where Cambodia has links to very few other places.
We will just see the migrant situation get worse until a way can be found to make Libya and other North African countries a safe place to live for anyone of any faith or no faith. I can't see an easy way out of that one!
Mrs Sturgeon want's to old England to ransom over the in/out Europe referendum.
If she is so in favour of staying in Europe then may be she could offer the highlands and glens of the uninhabited areas she presides over. There are quite a few Islands dotted round the Scottish coast line that she could offer as a new colony for these immigrants. Gruinard springs to mind. The fact there is no DWP benefits offices awaiting them would'nt deter them err would it?.
Give them the choice Egypt or Eigg.
I was about to suggest some of the more remote islands, retrocop, plenty of healthy space to found a colony!
