Why after 51 years of screening 'Doctor Who' was there any need to include a Lesbian scene in the first place?

/// The decision to remove the first lesbian encounter in the show’s 51-year history has angered gay rights campaigners, who accused executives of giving into homophobia. ///

It' all a bit of a non event ( at least until the BBC decided to remove the scene) and tbh if it was a 'lesbian kiss' it was the least erotic thing I've ever seen. It was an air exchange between two lesbian characters, not quite the same thing, nothing erotic or sexual about it at all. Should it have been removed because someone's sensibiities got upset? No because...

Why bring in THE QUEEN? :0)

Yep ...I'd agree with that^
AOG

I think it might be you who is carrying around the chip unfortunately.m

First you decry TV execs for 'spoiling' dramas by including black characters (literally - your words) and now you seem to have a problem with lesbians (even when they are not lesbians).

Remember...you posted these questions.

Therefore, one can only assume that the chip belongs to you.

Surely you can see that?
LOL - pipped that the post, that was in support of SP's last post.
Ah, you picked up one word from the Video link - very good.

I of course jokingly meant that time does not stand still, especially so if one is a time traveller.

By huddling round the flock doesn't make you or them necessarily right.
He rarely sees anything afaic sp except his own viewpoint and these threads nearly always end up the same way: with a majority effectively screaming "no AOG, you've got it wrong!" and him effectively screaming back "No! You're all wrong ...what's the matter with you!" It's all rather sad really.
AOG, are you speaking as a black sheep?
It's like Groundhog Day......again.

AOG, what satisfaction do you get from life apart from being a wind up merchant?

Stop trying to pass it on to me, you have been carrying it around so eloquently yourself as others have pointed out before, so why give up the habit?

As always, taken completely out of context.

/// and now you seem to have a problem with lesbians (even when they are not lesbians). ///

I may not be batting for your side, but I have no problem with lesbians, just as long as they do not make it compulsory.

Don't know about the bit in brackets though, because to me it makes no sense at all.
It made perfect sense to me.

And of course I was joking regarding the Queen.

If you have no problems with lesbians why are you bothered if they are in Doctor Who or no?

Here we go again the usual insults and labels.

For your information I get a great deal of enjoyment from my very long life, but never understand the enjoyment others get from picking every fly from every one of the threads that I choose to enter.

Take this thread headlined "Doctor Who Lesbian Kiss Scene Cut In Case It Offends Asian Audiences". these are not my words they are from the report, so nothing untoward there then.

So let's take the question "Why after 51 years of screening 'Doctor Who' was there any need to include a Lesbian scene in the first place"? Just a simple question the BBC should have asked themselves before they decided to include it.

So have I been slagged anyone off? well I must have done judging by some of the responses and insults I have endured, but if I have they have only been in reply to the slagging that I have had to endure, but I think this is more to do with how this site has come to be.

I first joined this site long ago, because I enjoy a good debate and once got very much enjoyment from it, but it now seems that some just come on to turn a debate into a argument.
"...never understand the enjoyment others get from picking every fly from every one of the threads that I choose to enter".

No one gets any enjoyment from picking you up on things you say afaic, as you so often say, it's only you expressing opinions.

The thing is, you have to accept that people are going to return with their opinions too, especially if you are going to make (what seems like) a hobby out of starting discussions about controversial news items.

...and here we go again with yet another passive aggressive epilogue.

Why can't some understand?

I have never said I have a problem with Lesbians, in Dr Who, outside Doctor Who, standing on the head of Dr Who, in fact I am not even bothered about Dr Who himself, (that is if he is still a HE) because I do not watch it.

I will say this one more time for the ones that are obviously slow on the uptake, I just entered a thread that was reported in a newspaper, that's allowed isn't it, not against Site Rules or anything is it?
AOG, calm down, they're only words, just shrug them off!

/// Oh yes I remember where you kicked off because they were going to add more black characters and you felt it was so wrong!!! ///

If they are all part of the plot then I have no problem, it is those who are added simply because the likes of Lenny Henry demands it.
