With a record like this, why has it not been banned, well we know the reason don't we?

*** Since the carnival did not have local authority permission, initial police involvement was aimed at preventing it taking place at all, which resulted in regular confrontation and riots. ***
Wikipedia.

/// Scotland Yard staged a series of dawn raids on Tuesday linked to this weekend's Notting Hill carnival in west London. Weapons including two machine guns and a handgun, crack cocaine and about £70,000 in cash were seized, and 88 people were arrested. ///

/// Ch Supt Robyn Williams said: "We are committed to ensuring that Notting Hill carnival remains a safe, vibrant and enjoyable event. ///

Why wait until just before this Carnival, the police should be raiding these premises on a regular basis throughout the year?

jno and getting food poisoning for their trouble. Street food is openly sold without food hygiene inspectors being allowed to inspect the poor standards being used. Booze is sold on the streets at extortionate prices from ad hoc stalls. No excise licence needed at Carnival for these hawkers who are breaking the law. Police instructed to ignore use and sale...

/// The fact that he calls for it to be banned each year, I'm guessing, is more to do with safety fears. If anything, that suggests that AOG wants to protect black people from harm. ///

No you are wrong, if that was so I could be accused of being racist, because there also happens to be some white people who attend the carnival, and since you know me so well, you should know that I am all for 'a level playing field'.
I suggest you read 'Congratulations, you've just met the ICF'
So if you're for a level playing field what does 'we know the reason don't we?' actualy mean?

/// It's a pity we haven't heard him praise the police in this thread. I think they are doing a marvellous job as these arrests attest. ///

Once again this isn't about football or even the police which now seems your latest attempt on covering up the real facts

/// Still, odd though, isn't it? AOG seems to be calling for a ban on the NHC because of successful police raids. ///

Wrong yet again, I am calling on a ban because of it's past record and if you must mention the police, their time involved policing this event.

What now is going to be your latest attempt at diversion from the facts?

May be, "So you now want to deprive the honest hard-working policeman and his family from a little extra overtime money, do you"?

I am sure you can come up with a much better reason than I could possibly supply, and much, much more suited to your own particular agenda, which I am sure will be the type of answer you would like to hear from yours truly.

?????????????????????????????????????

One of us must be on something, and it is certainly not me.
Well, it's not the type of answer i would like but it is what we've come to expect. Dodging the issue is your usual MO. It sounds to me as if your saying it's because NHC is largely populated by black people and the authorities don't want to make a fuss. Would you care to deny or confirm my suspicions?

There I told you that you could come up with a much better answer than I, feeling much better now, are we?

No way of knowing whether my answer is better than yours as you haven't (surprisingly) given one. What are you frightened of?

Not much, but I must admit I suffer from coulrophobia
Nicely dodged. Again. How do you expect people to respect your views when you won't even clarify your own statements / questions?

AOG...

//At least football clubs do have to answer for their crowd violence as they can be made to play some matches to empty stands, they can be banned from playing in Europe for example, and they can also be fined large sums of money. //

I suggested you read that book so you'll know that football violence rarely takes place in the terraces. The violence is extreme and is more likely to happen in the side streets. The ICF was renowned for leaving a calling card after beating someone to a pulp saying 'congratulations, you've met the ICF'

It's still happening. There was a programme on it a few weeks ago.

Ban football!!

/// I can't copy and paste your whole answer to me but have you been in Northern Ireland for 17 march or 12 July? They to are just celebrating their culture! ///

Yet one more diversion, we now have football crowds, the police, and now Northern Ireland.
Ignoring me again?

/// Ban football!! ///

Along with boxing and steeple chasing.

But then they are completely different debates, so please stick to the one in hand.

But if you feel so strong about football, please feel free to offer it up for debate, I am sure you will have a number of opponents, perhaps then you will come to understand what it is like.

But then I doubt that you will, because there are some who shy away from controversy, and wish to remain 'one of the pack'.

/// Not a dodge as you yourself compared it to Morris dancers!! But you are partial to a dodge or two aren't you! ///

That was in reply to your racist remark.

/// Ignoring me again? ///

As I have already informed you, I suffer from coulrophobia.
