It is of course good that some talented youngsters have a outlet o voice their opinions and aspirations, but should these kind of thoughts be encouraged from a 11 year old?

/// Meanwhile, Amaria, 11, from East London, has crammed a lot of Margaret Thatcher-hating into her short life, describing the late Prime Minister as an ‘old hag’ who deserves to be ‘pushing up the daisies in her cold dead
grave’. ///

This comes from a child who's father was murdered in a shooting when she was two or three, perhaps she would be better to voice her opinions on gang killings.

As any parent on here will testify, all children of this age have opinions. My thoughts on article were;
Oh dear, the Flakes are getting younger!
As any parent on here will testify, all children of this age have opinions. Based on scant knowledge of the world, and even less experience of it, they still like to hold forth what they think - and amen to that.

But does that make interesting or entertaining TV? No, it makes cheap-to-make TV with good ratings porentia, which makes it about as valid a social experiment as Big Brother.

So I have already made a decision not to watch it, and will avoid all the media hype that will explode around it - because it doesn't add anything significant to my viewing pleasure - and that's why i watch TV.

If I want to hear children's opinions, I have children who can provide them -I don't really want to listen to other people's children doing it on TV.
"but should these kind of thoughts be encouraged from a 11 year old?"

???

Who 'encouraged' these thoughts?
They are only trying to show what is quite acceptable in this civilised society.
Precocious kids get very waring. You quickly just want to slap them.

It is sad that they are made to grow up too quickly and miss the fun of being a child.

Still, freak show telly is very popular.

Out of curiosity, what does that say about those watching it?

(I watch very little TV)
I will be watching it, because I think it's strange and I like strange things.

" should these kind of thoughts be encouraged from a 11 year old? "

I had extremely strong opinions until I was about 15 or 16 which were far more unsavoury than the ones Amaria expresses. My parents never told me not to think anything - they just kept questioning it (and gently taking the pee) until I eventually started questioning it myself.

One of the kids actually has a valid response here: "nobody can take away your opinions." Kids expressing strong opinions are not always "encouraged" or told to do so - and they can't be "encouraged" out of it.

I would have thought that was obvious, Channel 4 who decided it was a good idea to screen such a show.

Incidentally this show is due to be shown tonight at 10.50pm way after these and other kid's bedtime.

So here we have an 'adult' show, voicing children's opinions, which they themselves are too young to watch.
My son is very opinionated and always has been. He didn't get from me.

People have recording apparatus or On Demand. The watershed doesn't have the power it used to.
AOG giving me best answer! I will never be able to live that down...

My condolences Jim ;-)

Tell us kromo, what were these unsavoury opinions you had?

/// " Kids expressing strong opinions are not always "encouraged" or told to do so - ///

So you don't think that this type of thing is not encouraging kids to voice their opinions?

/// and they can't be "encouraged" out of it ///

Perhaps they could be if their parents were encouraged to stop their children from not only voicing but also acting out their opinions?

We have seen enough violent and horrendous actions taking in place by young heads being filled with evil opinions, that have feasted into something more serious that the opinions these kids are being encouraged to voice.

They should be seen and not heard....

No problem Jim, what can be given can quite as easily be taken away.

Don't want to get you in trouble with the Anti-AOG Brigade.
Well that's better. Thanks! :P

Do you know that was to be my headline, only I thought that some would attack my headline and not address the issue.

They took the pee?
my god that's 'emotional abuse' they could get locked up for that nowadays.
I'm doing something wrong... at the moment I can hear the little sods but not see them :(

I don't not think that this type of thing isn't encouraging kids to voice their opinions, no.

"Tell us kromo, what were these unsavoury opinions you had? "

I used to go around saying the holocaust was justified (including to a Jewish teacher) and telling people they should vote BNP.

"Perhaps they could be if their parents were encouraged to stop their children from not only voicing but also acting out their opinions?"

Sorry, I don't understand this.
