can anyone think of a more barbaric punishment, i had no idea that it was so prevalent. I don't understand why there isn't a bigger outcry over this.

We have a measured amount pointing out some of the more extreme forms of Islam, we have very few (if any) aimed at general, everyday Muslims.

if a person is guilty of a capital crime in the USA they can be sentenced to death, having been found guilty by a Jury, Judge, not a kangaroo court,
no one in the west to the best of my knowledge is ever sentenced to death for committing adultery. These cases i have cited are not even proven, they happen because they can, because men rule the roost in these barbaric backwaters, because women always come off worse because she is the one held to blame for men's stupidity. If a woman is raped it is deemed her fault, and as we have seen been killed by stoning, or murdered by her family for bringing shame on them.

And seeing what has been reported, how do you propose that it does not become a general anti-Muslim rant?

Wasn't this conducted by Muslims in support of their own religion, or are these a certain type of Muslim who support a certain type of Islamic teaching?

i mentioned Gromits thread because it was pertinent, not because he has had a massive change of stance, heart. I think his point was that the men got a somewhat lesser charge, not about Muslims per se.

i am not after support, but i do think that this vile practice of murdering by stoning women should be outlawed. But of course we would be told that we are the interfering west so mind our own business.

Death by stoning is barbaric because it must take an awfully long time for the 'guilty' to actually die. I'm against capital punishment in general, but at least with gas, lethal injection and hanging, the death is relatively quick.

This is just monstrous.

Perhaps there isn't a bigger outcry in this country because we don't care?

As a comparison - look at the number of gay men who have been killed in African countries for being gay. The mainstream media don't give it much attention...like this.
