but it was such a fun time to be a teen then jourdain

House of the Rising Sun by The Animals. It tastes.kes me right back to the late 60s early 70s. My youngest Uncle, use to visit us from time to time, which we loved, as he used to bring his guitar and amp with him, and he would play this song. He had a mic and would let me sing while he played. Loved those times. He's sadly no longer with us now. Always think of him when I hear this song. Great memories.

Here's one from that era which brings back memories for me but which doesn't get many plays these days:

gosh yes, i love these memories

Patsy I recall as a 17 yr old being with my friend in Newcastle and passing a place called the Downbeat, it was like a magnet to us as we peered in and there were the Animals  having a Jam session, they waved us in to listen to them

My previous was from the 80s but here is one from the 60s!

I've just been in a bar where they played House of the Rising Sun.

Bobbi et al - it really was a great time to be a teen.

PS I sing a good  'house of the Rising Sun' a la Burdon.

Omg, Bobbi! How lucky were you! Did you get their autographs? Great memory..

Question Author

No, we never really thought how BIG they were then Patsy

oh Jourdain I would pay to listen 🙄

I met the Kinks once, just after their first hit.  They were fulfilling a contract to play in a corrugated-iron barn in Lamlash on the Isle of Arran.  We were on holiday and bought them a drink and had a chat and I got their autographs!
