Tursday?
Are you qyurying the fact that they pronounce it see ann? The only Sian I knew pronounced her name Shaan. They seem to be very consistent with the pronunciation, so I wonder if they know something we don't.

Yes bhg, I've only ever known it as Sharn, but possibly she wanted to be known as See-ann.

Quite often there is no "correct" way to pronounce a name. The only "rule" to go by is how that person pronounces it.

I have to confess I don't even know who the lady is :-(
I would of said Shorn. I looked up my very Teutonic surname on Google to see how many were listed In Swansea where our family settled 200 yrs ago and found a young lady in the linguistics faculty of the University who wrote her first name Sharn.
Young girl in our pub is called Siobahn which trips a few customers up. :-(
We'll be discussing Cholmondesley and Featherstonehaugh next.
And perhaps that Lea and Perrin stuff.
I have the same problem with how to pronounce 'Siobhan.'
I have never heard this name pronounced anyway other than shaan. To pronounce it any other way sounds to me pretentious.

But I did know a man in Bristol whose name was Sean, because his Mum was a great fan of Connery of the same name, and he called himself see-ann.
This was because his mother had seen the name written down but hadn't heard it spoken !
The obly person I knew called Siobahn liked it pronounced Shevaun.
Sean in Gaeilge is pronounced Shan.
Is it Shawn Bawn or Seen Been (Sean Bean)?

sian o' callaghan's murderer was jailed in 20's brought her name back into the news, has he appealed?

That was for Siobahn

***jailed in 2012 - what's brought....***
