Detective Inspector Hathaway mentioned in passing that he'd walked the Pilgrim Trail, it's 800km long, across northern Spain but when he arrived at the cathedral didn't go in to see the shrine.
Is that likely?

I think it was intended as another example of Hathaway's troubled relationship with God and his need for some kind of penance, so he made the journey but didn't take the final step of visiting the shrine.

Sandy.....MrG once drove me miles to look at another bloody chateau....til he saw the admission fee on the gate......that soon changed his mind.....

But I think Hathaway was doing something else...I hope it's romantic...x

After traipsing 800k I'd sooner be looking for a pub than a cathedral. Once re-hydrated maybe then, I'd look at it.

Most who walk the Camino sleep in dormitories. Little chance for romance unless you were an exhibitionist.
Admission to the cathedral is free. You go down a short flight of stairs to see the silver reliquary holding the bones of St James. Then up another flight to arrive high above the altar. The less reverential pilgrims wave at the congregation from that high point.
Sandy, did you ever find out why some of your threads were pulled yesterday?
Question Author
No, Janbee. I'd guess the first one was considered tasteless and the others in a way questioned the taste of the censor.
Oh well. I didn't see anything offensive about them but maybe somebody complained, although I don't know why.
There are MUCH more offensive threads on the go at the moment and have been for a few days now.
