Birth Week?
41 Answers
One of the children at my daughter's nursery turned 4 on Monday. Instead of having a simple birthDAY, her mother has been celebrating all week with what she calls, her birthWEEK. Parties, days out, endless cake, presents and fuss.
Could it be possible that the child is over indulged??? #1 better not get any fancy ideas...

She's a stay-at-home mum, and I hate to say it, but the kids are both spoilt (there's a younger child too).
I know there are worse things that parents can do to their kids, but surely this is going to cause problems in later life? The kids have the best of everything, and too much of it all. Everything in moderation would be a better approach maybe?

life is depressing and miserable enough as an adult, Im sure its not going to turn her into a serial killer, let her have some happy memories of childhood, it could be worse at least her parents are actively interested in her.
I think people display birthday cards for a week to get their money's worth out of them, If you bought it for 1.50, handed it over only for it to be binned a few hours later would seem wasteful I suppose

I also wonder how the other kids in the nursery feel when they only have a single day for birthdays. Not everyone can afford to spoil their children like this, or they just don't want to!
My kids get a single day where we have cake, presents and balloons.
I don't think the child will turn into a serial killer, just a spoilt brat with a sense of entitlement. I can see her being the child taken to her first school disco at the age of 6 in a stretch limo...
I think it teaches kids that possessions are the way to show love and affection.

its a bit rough to call a 4 year old a brat because her mother made a fuss of her birthday. not all kids end up the spawn of satan because their parents made a fuss of them, I know kids who are now adults who had similar incidents in childhood, they have not become brats, there is more to it than a bit of overindulging.
