People seem so caught up in how they look, how others look & who looks better than who, why is this?

The last time I got caught up in this debate, I was slagged off by men on here for 'tar brushing' them, because men have always been cruel to me about my looks. No lies. I did not deserve the cruelty by some.

People can be weird i know some that obsess over how they look & because they put weight on, get wrinkles whatever their hang up maybe think their life will never be the same again, i'm ok never been a stunner so nothing to lose :) don't care if people think i'm ugly :)
Can't sleep either joanne?
It's the way of the world. Trying to keep up with the Jones's. As far as I'm concerned it's a job to keep up with myself sometimes. I've had times in the past when even my cash bounced. I was so hard up.
Now I'm happy and contented and if people don't like the way I look or dress that's their problem. I'm fed up with reading about people spending thousands on a meal or pair of shoes when there is so much poverty and suffering in the world.
It's not sour grapes on my part. Just doesn't seem fair that's all. OOPS. I've gone away from your original question. Sorry.
Really must go to bed now.
No disrespects to women over weight or obese but, it really puts me off.

I have only slept with one women who was a heavy or fat to be be polite and, I couldn't rise to the occasion.
trt- what an utterly banal and useless contribution to a sensible thread.
I am neither obese or even really overweight. My problem has always just been my face, which men do not seem able to accept. I've been told, 'Nothing wrong with your personality, BUT!

trt i have to ask if she repulsed you so much why were you in bed with her in the first place?
Very interesting topic yes, I am 5 pounds heavier than when I married in 1975, wear a size 8/10 dress size, have fabulous legs and a great personality, but am in no way 'conventionally' pretty (well not since age 4 at least) I have learnt that my inner beauty shines out to those who know, thus excluding any shallow natured sorts. I can say I have been loved and am loved and am confident now in myself.
Actually I called them shallow b@stards and got lambasted for it.
Question Author
think i must have some kinda mental defection i cannot for the life of me understand emphasis on looks, mama i agree with you an inner beauty is very attractive & is always something i look for in a mate & am luckyto have at the minute, but what i mean is why are people always in a rush to talk about both their own appearance & other peoples, to me it is irrelevant, of course dressing well, personal hygiene are important but the emphasis on oh i'm this slim, oh i have pretty eyes, we can see that why keep talking about it, it smacks of insecurity to me, i'm obese & aethestically challenged & i don't care one bit what worries me is other people : 0
Oh I see, well I guess I may occasionally have a bit of a dig at a so called celeb's outfit etc, but by and large tend to ignore personal features after all we are born with them.
Question Author
Actually i'm not obese that was a fib i'm just aesthetically challenged according to other people anyway, don't care it's a cruel, shallow, mad world is all i can say
Maybe if I dyed my hair blonde and had a boob job, men might be interested, but I doubt it. They are all too gorgeous for me, arn't they?
Question Author
Alec a lot of men do go for personality & unconventional beauty, 3 billion people on earth large majority mate at some point in their lives they certainly aren't all supermodels
Thanks Joanne130, but I wouldn't like to be a supermodel, they are judged on their looks even more than Jane Doe! God forbid them getting old!
Question Author
That is very true me neither.
Not sure why I started this thread now :(
I am sorry that I may have upset a few people but, its just what attracts me to the opposite sex.

Some men like over weight women with big bust but, I prefer slim ladies with small boobs.
I cant see the problem with that as everybody is different.

Some ladies prefer well built muscle type males, some prefer slim guys, so whats the difference?

It would be very boring if everybody preferred the same type and build of the opposite sex, dont you think?
Question Author
Yes trt it would be boring, what i meant by the question was why do people get s competitive over looks & so caught up in how we all look, as has been said physical features are something we are all born with & we have no control over them, we are too much of a looks orientated culture IMO.
