I wasn't keen on them in the 80s, I doubt they will be any better after 30+ years.

The only thing I can say is.

For Funks Sake

at first i read this as meaning the opening ceremony - but, it's coinciding with the ceremony, so hopefully, not many will be watching anyway!
Shocking choice!
love it :-)
Excellent! I love Duran Duran. But Paolo Nutini representing Scotland, for heaven's sake!
Whoever they picked there would always be some who disagree with the choice.

True. But Duran Duran are sh1te.
<<Tickets for the opening celebration concert go on sale on 4th May at 0900BST>>
Or alternatively, you can find them on ebay by 0930BST at 4 times the price.
Whether or not you see Duran as a good choice is likely to be governed entirely by whether you think they are a decent band or not -I personaly think they are great - and they are excellent live.

I think it's a shame they couldn't get someone a bit more relevant to the 21st century. The ones representing the other nations are ok, but I see DD as a bunch of 80s has-beens. Fair enough if they'd been active since that time, but they've done nothing of interest for 20 odd years.
Fantastic, I love Duran Duran.
