key fob on m carens playing up will open but not lock, do you think its the battery or the fob itself not working :-(

have you checked that all the doors are properly shut, no odd scraps of paper etcetera trapped in any closed door or the boot. My Rav keyfob wont lock the doors if any of the doors are not properly shut with nothing caught in any of the doors.

dont know if its same but on our astra we had a problem with the fob.
i replaced battery then resync the fob by putting key in ignition turn to position befrore starting car and press the buttons on the fob,you should here the locks work.
also i had to wedge the battery in the fob with some paper.

To add to the above, clean the contact points of the fob battery.

to be fair, the *signal* is being transmitted to the control module in the vehicle to unlock & deactivate the immobiliser system, so you can discount the battery in the fob, however is this the 3 button fob you have ?

2 button not 3, little Green light comes on when i press open button, doors open :-) press lock button no little green light doors not lock :-( me thinks fob past sell by date

Thank goodness the error was that way around ;-)

Probably wouldn't hurt to try a new battery, it'd be usful if you are getting new fobs anyway.
