The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit

14:47 Fri 23rd Jul 2010 |

The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit is an animated adventure. The film is a clay-mation film from the award winning Aardman Features which also brought us The Wrong Trousers and Chicken Run. Directed by Nick Park and Steve Box the voice ensemble cast includes Peter Sallis, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes.

Although the film was a box office hit DreamWorks did not agree and the partnership between them and Aardman came to an end. However, critics and audiences both loved the film giving it overwhelmingly positive reviews.

The slightly odd but nevertheless endearing character of Wallace and his genius dog Gromit are a winning combination for Aardman but The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was their first feature length film in the clay-mation genre.

Despite the abundance of comedy and slapstick in the film there are many touching moments which show the characters’ inner depths, often not seen in animated films. Many viewers agreed that CGI does not a great movie make and that character and story driven films often are more popular.

Our two heroes are helping to keep the rabbit population down in front of the Giant Vegetable Competition run by Lady Trottington. However, with just days to go someone is eating the exhibits; it is up to Wallace and Gromit to find the perpetrator and bring them to justice before whoever it is is shot by Victor Quartermaine.
