Green Zone

Green Zone is an action thriller about the second Gulf War. The film is credited as having been inspired by book Imperial Life in the Emerald City by journalist Rajiv Chandrasekaran, which documented life in the Green Zone, Baghdad. The director Paul Greengrass also worked with Matt Damon on the second and third in the Jason Bourne series.

Viewers of the film were impressed by the acting particularly Matt Damon. However, many comments have been made about the shaky camera work and also the missed opportunity to make a true political thriller with a bit of pace and go for the action packed popcorn war film.

Damon’s character is part of a team looking for Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq after the end of the second Gulf War. Matt Damon delivers a strong performance as an Army Warrant Officer who truly cares about the justifications of his actions--he has no problem being a good soldier, as long as he knows that there are clear moral reasons behind what he's been ordered to do.

The Green Zone is the common name for the International Zone of Iraq located in the centre of Baghdad that was the centre of the Coalition Provisional Authority and remains the centre of the international presence in the city.
