I should be glad to see the back of Aaron because it makes my hackles rise when his name is pronounced as Arran instead of Airon. Am I alone?

No doubt this will get removed as being unPC but my dad used to say a rhyme that went "the Lord said unto Moses all Jews shall have long noses, all except for Aaron and he shall have a square 'un" so that is how I would always pronounce Aaron.

Depends where you live, I think. I've heard it pronounced to rhyme with baron in Ireland and as Airon in church.

You've reminded of Sandra in The Liver Birds
Doesn't affect me in the slightest because I don't watch The Street.
There was a character in Emmerdale who got the same treatment.
I believe people should pronounce their name as they want.
I am amazed anyone would even consider pronouncing it airon, given how it is spelt.
Mind you, these days, a number of commercial companies seem either unable to spell, or maybe unable to pronounce their own name, and seem to make a point of "correcting" those folk who are clearly pronouncing the spelling shown perfectly.

It's not even Arran really. It's more R-ron as in aadvark!
I used to get annoyed when people pronounced my daughter Michelle as MEEchelle
My mother insisted that my sister's name was pronounced Patreeeeeesha,
Juniper, I've only heard folk from Belfast pronounce it that way, as an aardvark
Some people call it wrong. It does make people unhappy because our names have a special meaning and are not just some random name that someone doesn't take seriously
What is wrong in one country or region is right in another.

What used to be irritate me was the mangled spelling of Irish names when they were fashionable with non-Irish parents some years ago. I lost count of the variations of Siobhan I have seen, including Shuvon and Shevorn. Rosheen, too, instead of Róisín
I agree with Ginge, pronounce it how the person wants their name pronounced, these days it really doesn’t matter how it’s spelt/spelled.
