I love to cook a large roast dinner and we always eat at 1.30 p.m.

Crosswords in the afternoon and occasionally finding something worth reading in the Sunday papers. Regular 'phone calls to family/friends. A little gardening when weather allows. Hopefully a favourite programme in the evening to unwind.

I'm not feeling too great so I've spent the day in bed watching tv.

Wish you better soonest, ummmm. Hope you got something on the set to interest you.
Sunshine...cut lawn...and cuddles !
Not working would be good
We've got netflix so it's not too bad

Just for you then ;)

This is my last Sunday before I go back to work, so I've spent it drinking a couple of G&Ts, reading the papers and had a lovely walk on the beach.

237, sorry. I can recommend retirement

Ummmm - netflix, eh?
We had glazed gammon ;)
Awwwww Ta choux xx
Now we have retired, it's not much different from other days of the week, just no aguagym. It has always been, and probably always will be, a housework day for me. Old habits die hard. Still do a Saturday shop.
I can't think of anything worse than retirement. I only get one Sunday off per month so the perfect Sunday is cooking a roast chicken, eating second helpings and then collapsing on the settee for the rest of the afternoon.

Hats off to you Cloverjo. Anyone who can drink and read the paper whilst walking on the beach deserves time off work.
Does take a bit of getting used to 237. One of the best things is not having to get up early and rushing to the office . I really enjoy turning over and switching on a podcast or two.

Samuraisan, I find that Sundays and Thursdays are the 2 days that stand out in the week. (The rubbish is put out on Thursdays.)
237SJ - // I can't think of anything worse than retirement. //

Really? I think it's fabulous.

People always trot out the cliché, I bet you wondered how you found the time to go to work ... but I thought that even when I was at work!

I have six grandchildren, a great grand-child, three wonderful daughters, and my wonderful wife to spend time with. I have endless books to read, TV and films to watch, articles to write, bands and festivals go see, music to listen to, holidays to go on, I am a DJ, and working on being a cruise speaker, so I really do need all this time, and more, to fit everything in.
Since I retired, my Sunday is very much like yours, Choux, except that we eat a lot later and I take Tilly for a walk. What does make it special now is that I don't have that dreaded 'work tomorrow' feeling which used to begin around 4.00pm when I was working.
Question Author
I tend to wake at the same time but it is luxurious to have a slower start to the day. I seem to wear out my dressing gown and slippers faster since retirement ;)
AH - I'm sure retirement is wonderful. My sister loves her retirement and is so busy that I don't know how she got the time to work. I work in aviation and like the maritime industry, it's a lifestyle and it's in the blood. I probably only have 5 or 6 years to go and I`ll be gutted when I give it up.
Question Author
If we are lucky, retirement is just another phase of our lives. I like to embrace this time of life, not knowing for how long it will continue. Carpe diem.

One of your happier posts, a-h, good for you.

Tilly, that feeling is something to savour.

I am seriously happy ninety-nine per-cent of the time, sorry if I don't appear that way.
