I wont mention anything about it yet, but just want to find out if anyone has the same thoughts that I have, about one of the contestants?

I liked her response to Brad's question "surely you've heard of Tommy Cooper?" "Is he like Russell Brand?"
00:52 Sat 01st Aug 2015

'course they do Mamya, 'Just like that!'
What made her look a "proper chump" was that as well as being thick as two short planks, she tried to be funny and "girlish" which was embarrassing all round.

mamy...it makes you wonder what they DO teach at school.
Well, precisely - they should rewrite the curriculum immediately.

To be fair,I didn't see the programme.
The biggest laugh was that after getting no questions right, one of her team said
"Take the 0, as with your breadth of knowledge, we need you back here"

LOL....LOL...." breadth of knowledge"
She seemed very young, doing A levels, but not yet at Uni.

She was a bit unlucky with the questions too. She was probably born about 1998, but she had an obscure question about the Kinks, a sixties band and a question about a joke made in the 1960s.
Precisely, Gromit, I doubt my children would have a clue about The Kinks or Tommy Cooper.
Contestant: I always said I would never go with a minus figure.

Bradley: But...?

Contestant: I'm not sure there is a but. But, I will go with the minus.
I watched this on catch-up precisely because of this thread. Normally I'd agree with the comments about thick students but all her questions were about light trivia from way before her time, none of them that I'd expect even the most rounded school education to over.
Why , just why is the modern tendency is to make excuses for failures?

\\She was a bit unlucky with the questions too\\\

\\Precisely, Gromit, I doubt my children would have a clue about The Kinks or Tommy Cooper.\\\

For God,s sake....she was asked at least 20 questions and another half dozen which had "choices."
Okay....so she's rubbish at guessing!
That only leaves the 20+ questions.^^^
Read Prudie's answer again, Sqad.
I have read Prudie's post....so they were ALL trivia?
That's my recollection of it sqad
More or less.
I was born in the 1960's

I doubt I could answer a question about the 1951 Labour leadership contest, who beat who.

So I cannot say she was thick for getting the John Smith question wrong.
Well, there you go.........your idea of "trivia" and mine, seem to be quite different.

" Who preceded Tony Blair as leader of the Labour Party?"

Hardly a trivia question particularly for a "Law Student."
John Smith died in 1994 but he never really got his time in the limelight and I expect many people wouldn't recall him under pressure. I admit I forgot about that question.
Are you telling me that they were ALL trivia questions, whenever you were born?

I think instead of her going to Asia to taste the cuisine, she should stay at home and swat about life & history.

Anyhow...How do you 'swat about life' ?
