We were thinking of hiring a caravan but it's a 6 berth and there are 7 - although one is less than 1 year
Would they find out if we lied?
There are no larger ones on the dates we want

I slept in a rather large cot until I was 10 then my little brother came along and he got it - just for a short time tho - he died 2 days later.

Can't see that making any difference Ric.cor
If it's a caravan you collect from a depot and tow somewhere how are they to know?
If it's an "on site" van you may have to tuck the little one up your jumper each time you come and go ;-)
Is this a touring 'van or a static ?

Its sounds as if the seventh person is only a baby, and you can always squeeze a baby in somewhere !

It doesn't really matter if the people who are hiring it "find out" or not.

But bear in mind...if this is a touring van, 7 is quite a lot to occupy the 'van.........you will be very hugger-mugger. I hope you are all very good friends !

It's a static but we have gone for an 8 berth
It's not that much more and it's nice to have a bit more room
Good idea Ric.ror. As I presume that some kids will be there, its always a good idea to have a much room as you can !
you will be glad you hired a bigger caravan nothing worse that a rainy day in a caravan with too many people and not enough space, same if you hire a boat always go for bigger than you actually need.
Surely under 2's don't count?
If all the family stories are true, I spent the first few months of my life sleeping in the bottom drawer of a large chest of drawers !

Sadly there is no one left alive that can confirm whether that is true or not.
mikey - luxury! I used t' dream of sleeping in a bottom drawer!
Ay oop !

my dad was a home birth and premature he was put/kept in a bottom drawer packed full of cotton wool, he was born in 1901,well he survived was over 6ft tall and lived till he was 79.He was in Stoke on Trent.
I'm from Stoke on Trent but I slept in the top drawer.
thanks for that mikey brought back old memories watching it now. I used to love Ripping Yarns as well.
Like MrsO says, I don't think under twos count.
whether they count or not its still better to hire a bigger caravan. When I had a caravan that I use to let out a lady wrote me for permission to bring her "wee budgie" with her, couldn't bear to be parted naturally the answer was yes.
I missed the answer where Ric said they'd hired an 8 birth.

Jennyjoan - I have given you the best answer ;-))

The son and heir is 11 month old but I did point that out and yes they do count.
Anyway the lady was so nice I said we would hire hers in the future
