Half and half, imo. I think it's the trio with Clarkson at the helm and the fact that all three of them have a passion about cars....especially super cars. Boys like super cars. Personally I'd love to have a Fiat 500...but I still enjoy Top Gear (or did) I'm never going to get round the track in the 'non star in a reasonably priced car' in a Fiat... I like their...

If that's the case ummmmm, then the show is more about Clarkson than the cars?

Personally I'd love to have a Fiat 500...but I still enjoy Top Gear (or did) I'm never going to get round the track in the 'non star in a reasonably priced car' in a Fiat...

I like their banter, the close to the mark humour and their travels. Bring back the old 5th Gear type programme and I'd never watch it.

So from my opinion...the format as it is is getting people that are not particularly interested in cars, interested in the programme.
Fair point ummmmm, but as you say it's more of a "boys fast car magazine show" than a car show.
I did enjoy some of it, the Toyota Hi Lux was good viewing, but didn't like the overseas specials they did, but too OTT for my liking
Some of it is a bit boring. Some of it is really funny. Depends what they have planned that day. I don't think any Top Gear fan, hand on heart, can honestly say that every single episode has been epic.

I am a JC fan though. I read a Jeremy Clarkson book on cars, I have no interest in cars, and it still made me laugh. He's marmite, you like him or you hate him, but 170 countries are liking the marmite...
Sky have been trying to poach him for years so I guess he'll go there next.
It was a mention that Netflix are trying to get him.

The bland, grey, leftie thought police at the BBC have finally got what they wanted. Hope the trio take the show to Sky or ITV and carry on as they were.
The problem is that the formula wont be recreated either with the BBC continuing top gear or with a top gear 'look a like' on any other channel.
Even continuing with Jeremy Clarkson wouldnt have been the same because he would have been constrained.

But then again...... we might get something BETTER from the ashes of this sad episode.
The sword always comes down on those that think they are irreplaceable.
Clarkson punched a producer in the face so hard he had to go to A&E.
There was no other option but to sack him. It is not the first time Clarkson has assaulted BBC staff and others, there was a report that he punched a chef in another argument over food.
Comparisons to Savile are just stupid, no matter what Savile did he did not assault people in front of witnesses.

Tony Hall has said with it is “with great regret” he has told Clarkson he will not be renewing his contract.

He has said no blame is attached to producer Oisin Tymon, who went to A&E after the incident.

Hall says he was always a fan of Clarkson.
I read an awful rumour a few days ago that Stephen Fry may be considered a contender.Oh Gawd get the unnecessary expletive box out!!

Tony Hall has asked Kim Shillinglaw (BBC Scotland) to look at how to renew Top Gear and how it puts out the last programmes in the current series.

Not sure why you see them as bland, grey, or leftie, or indeed 'thought police'.

Clarkson has had his contract non-renewed for assault - I fail to see where your argument comes from with that.
There was nothing else they could do. He isn't as indispensible as he seems to think. The money he brings in is irrelevant
I see another reality TV window opening for Joey Essex.

And now it looks as if the police are going to be involved. I bet he never thought he might get a criminal record over it. How come the police are interested; I don't think they were when he hit Piers Morgan and that was all over the papers as well?
