A cream coloured coat has a bird poo stain on it. I've tried various remedies but the trace of a stain is still there. If I soaked the area with neat bleach would it remove it?

And the coat probably.

If the bleach doesn't do the job the coat's for the bin.
Vanish Oxi Action?
Depends on the fabric, you could try putting it on a hot wash and adding bleach to the wash.
Well if it's going in the bin, Sandy try this.....it works on carpets.....no idea about coats...

Equal measure of fabric conditioner and warm water....dab and see what happens......

Disclaimer......if the stain becomes pink or blue....or Hawaiian peach I didn't post this......☺

The trouble is I missed the stain when it happened and hung the coat up. I used Vanish oxi action but it didn't fully remove it.
Was it a large stain. I think I would rather put up with the poo stain as it will probably fade eventually. Bleach on a cream coat will most likely remove the colour and leave a white mark. Straight bleach should really only be used on white cotton fabric. I am assuming you have tried something like vanish or Sards.

Good tips on the site from chilldoubt sandy would not end neat bleach as I would think the coat or at least part of it would disintegrate!
sorry typo use not end!
Have you tried Ace laundry bleach? You pour a little onto the stain and launder. It worked well with a few things of our. Passing thought, when there is bird poo on our car, I use milk to remove it, and then wash the car
No, it will remove the coat but leave the stain. Try Vanish or if that doesn't work then a professional dry cleaner.
It would remove the stain and the cream colour, you'd end up with a white spot - don't do it.
OxyAction for colours is a good suggestion although a good soak with a biological liquid should get poo out - that's what it was designed for
Neat bleach will just make a bigger, but lighter mark on the coat. Why not take it to the dry cleaners and see what they can do ? They have all sorts of solvents and methods not available to us mortals !
Or buy a badge and put it over the stain.

I'll have a look at Chilldoubt's link later. I wouldn't really have binned it. It would have gone into one of those collection bags they leave for charity.
Birds are ingrates. You feed them and that's the thanks you get. ☺

wolf, it's on the back of the shoulder. I suppose I could save a chip from my next fish supper and try to fix it over the stain.
Wear a scarf draped over stain sandy, problem solved?lol

If it was a winter coat there'd be no problem with a Dr Who style scarf covering a multitude of stains. Unfortunately, it's not.
