The BBC are launching HD channels for BBC 3, 4, News, CBBC, CBeebies soon - Virgin has set aside channels for it to start on Dec 10th - but has there been any news yet as to when English regional shows (such as local news) on BBC 1 and 2 will be shown in HD?

I noticed this week that regional programmes on BBC1HD on Sky were showing not that silly red test card but forthcoming trails of quality drama. Best I've heard of the 5 HD channels is early 2014.

Someone on the Virgin site forum has reckons next week http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/TV/New-BBC-HD-Channels-now-on-the-EPG/m-p/2099222 - the only definite date that I have seen - and the allocated channels all say Coming Soon so one week seems quite likely.

The DG of the BBC was on the last episode of Points of View explaining that regional programmes will be HD eventually but it will be a very expensive thing to do

I remember hearing something like that a few months ago but, with the introduction of the new channels, wondered if HD'ing everything might happen in one go.
