The question was on Beef which was -Silverside joint comes from the neck which was false. The answer given was it actually comes from the rump which is wrong. It is connected to the topside with the femur bone in between. It is the next cut to the rump/

I know your right, gollop. Has a youth I used to have a bit of a part time job in a butchers shop and I can remember the butcher cutting the hind quarter of beef, it's only a membrane that separates the top side from the Silver side.

I'd write a strong letter to the Times if I were you. Disgraceful.
It comes from the third chill cabinet down in ASDA ! Lol
// It is connected to the topside with the femur bone in between //

all together..

the silverside's connected to the - neck bone
the neck bone's conencted to the - topside
the topside's connected to the - femur bone
now heaaaar de word of de lord.
Dem bones dem bones dem dry bones .....
Did they not mean that it came from the Rump of the animal (posh for ar*se) rather than referring to the cut of meat 'rump'?
Gawd knows clary. I still don't know where it comes from after reading this thread :-)
To be precise the correct answer was given (that it was false), though an incorrect explanation was given.

Is that it, . . . Beef over?

Look at the drawing again . I can see on there that the rump is separate from the silverside. Can you not see this
It comes from the tail end rather than the head end.
I think you're being a bit pedantic, gollob, though I understand where you're coming from. The answer is "rear end, not front end" for the layman.

the answer given was the silverside was part of the rump. does anybody now think this is right.

"perfection", at least it shows us that we aren't all 'perfect'.
Very true, Diz.
Gollob, it's right that it was wrong. The contestant said correctly it was wrong to say it was from the neck, explanation not needed. People have won their game on right answers with wrong reason but it's still right.
Clear now? And I haven't had a drink for months.
well after reading this thread I am having a drink!!!
They couldn't very well have said it came from the silverside could they?

The question could have been phrased a bit better asking if it came from the head or tail end of the animal.
