I Am 62 Years Old And My Driving Licence Expires June 2016. How Early Can I Apply To Renew My Licence? Can't Find An Answer On Dvla Web Site, Thanks
Your new licence will be valid from the date your application is approved, not from the expiry date of your current licence, and expires on the tenth anniversary of that approval date. I was unaware of this when I renewed my licence a few years back. I completed and returned the D798 licence renewal form within days of my receiving it - when my new licence arrived...
PP that link is only for drivers who are 70 or over. The OP is just 62!
As I said the new licence will be dated to start the day after the old one expires so there is no hurry.
it would appear that DVLA send you a form. I found this out because the previous occupant of my house (who moved out in 1986....) clearly never bothered to tell DVLA she'd moved, and her renewal form arrived on the doorstep this week.
