Laundering Money

Ok, I was just wondering what it means to launder money?

Why would someone want to do it, and what does it involve. Any and all details please, this is purely out of interest.

There's a whole lot of 'money laundering regulations' which banks, estate agents , solicitors and even antiques auctioneers, among others, have to comply with. We may guess that these businesses have proved innocent agents in such activity
