Small Claims

I am owed £80 by some one, and I'm just wondering the best way of recovering the monies owed to me. I told the person today, I would like my money back by the end of this month, but don't fancy chances of that happening, so am looking at ways of how to recover it in the easiest way possible.

Do you have proof they owe it, if not you may have problems if you take them to small claims court for example.

p.s. Never lend money to friends or family !
Even if you take them to court and win that does not mean you will get your money.

Have they got the money, or any sort of assets that could be sold? Are they working?
grab their mobile phone if its any good - hold that to ransom.

So your first step is to write a letter. It must be dated and clearly show your name and address, and that of the debtor. It must also clearly state that it is a demand for payment, stating the amount owed and giving the reason why. The letter should also state that, if payment in full is not received within a specified period of time (I suggest 21 days), you will commence legal proceedings. Send the letter by recorded delivery, keeping a copy and using Royal Mail's online tracking system to confirm receipt.

If you then don't get your money, start here:
