You are fed up, not depressed. Prudie is correct believe me. I suffer from depression! Forget dating for a while. Theres much more to life than dating or looking for a partner. Have you any hobbies or interests? Get out and about with your friends, keep away from dating sites for a while. Fed up is far removed from depression. We all get fed up.

Assuming you are not clinically depressed, taking up a new interest can help, and exercise is a great mood lifter, even if it's just dancing to your favourite music in your living room. A good walk can also help, being out in the fresh air especially at this time of year.

You know I'm sure you will get loads of sympathy and tips on here but people with depression don't go on dating sites and don't want to go out, they hardly want to do anything. That is real depression.

I understand you may be low and having a tough time, I'm sure you're not alone. Most have been through bad times in our life but that doesn't mean it automatically gets the label of depression which is a real medical condition.
Have you seen your GP yet?

i personally say do't listen to te above posters (sorry, i love you all but...) being told you're fed up and not depressed isnt helpful. Let's face it, you don't know the poster, what she goes through etc. Maybe she is depressed, but just because she doesnt have te words to express it, doesnt mean it's not true. It can take a lot for someone to acknowledge and reach out.
Of course it may jut be a period of fed upness and you might be right, but it would be better for the OP to make an appt with the GP who will do that scoring test with her and see if she IS actually depressed. There are very few illnesses that can be made worse by physical activity, so if you are able, barry's idea is a good start
Have you tried shopping?
Abbeyleigh, when you were off work with depression last year, did your GP (or anyone in the surgery) help you? Do you feel worse now than you did then?
I am rather puzzled - many times you ask for advice on clothes, nails, driving lessons, guys, holidays, etc. - you seem to socialise quite frequently according to your comments though I do realise you can be in a crowd yet feel quite lonely. I wouldn't call what you have "depression" - there's a big world to explore so get out and enjoyit.

I haven't gone off work with depression
Sorry if I got it wrong, abbeyleigh. It's just that an earlier question of yours was ' Is it ok to put you're out on social media if you've been signed off work with depression'.

No I didn't go off depressed was to see how I get in my job before leaving my other

Sorry Bednobs, but having suffered from anxiety and depression for most of my adult life in this particular case i think its pretty obvious that Abbie is fed up. And now shes on here again asking about dating sites and a new fella. I take depression very seriously indeed.
Thanks abbeyleigh, the question you asked - about going out and posting on social media while off work with depression - got lots of responses, some of them very useful. I still don't understand how that question really meant 'to see how I got on in my job before leaving the other'! Much as I'd like to, I don't think I can help with today's query.
I sympathise and you are absolutely right MissT. Unfortunately being sensible doesn't seem like the acceptable response with this poster (not Abbey's fault but the site has decided to treat her differently).
it may seem "pretty obvious" to you miss t, but from your postings, no-one would ever know YOU had depression, yet you do.
when someone with not much confidence is trying to work out their feelings, it doesn't seem particularly helpful (to me anyway) to say "you call that depression, I'VE got it much worse than you" which seems to be essentially wat you are saying.
Of course, you may well be right but if you're not how will it feel to read "girl with biggest new look dress collection in Wales commits suicide"? :)
Anyway, the great thing about advice is that people are free to ignore it if they want and let's face it, frequently do :) :)

I hide it pretty well Bednobs, and not just on AB. Most people tell me ì come over as a smiley, friendly, confident person. A lot of people who suffer I think are much the same. They hide it. Im pleased really you confirmed it. But there is something about Abbie that doesn't quite ring true. I think she may have problems, but there's a big question mark. There is nothing in my posts however that indicates saying 'i've got depression much worse than you though'. I am not that sort of person.
well your first post started with "You are fed up, not depressed. Prudie is correct believe me. I suffer from depression"
so that's what it sounded like to me. you are right though, people do hide it, or perhaps, if they are young or at the beginning of their journey they are trying to understand and navigate their feelings. Maybe abbey's depression dosen't ring true to you, but dont forget you are only an expert in how it feels for you/affects you
ps i also dont know if she should just pull herself together, or if she really is depressed, which is why those objective questionnaires tat the GP does with people can be helpful
