Today when I was drying my hair I noticed a burning smell and my hair dryer suddenly stopped working. I left it for a while and tried again but with the same result, burning smell and hairdryer faliure. I repeated this process until my hair was done.
Do I need a new hair dryer?

Mine did the same couple of months ago. Get an old toothbrush and use it to get rid of the fluff that gathers at the back of your dryer where the cool air comes out. Some dryers have a filter you can take out to clean. Mines worked fine ever since I did that.

I think you do. It sounds like something is making the safety cut-out activate (like the fan bit isn't working properly).

Aww! More expense!
Yes get a new one..it's clearly overheating....I had one do this and it eventually caught fire ! Be safe..Chuck it !
Time to buy a new hair dryer, yours is overheating. Do Not Use it again, just bin it and get a new one. It is a fire hazard to keep using it.

Right then, I need some recommendations for a good hairdryer. I've had this one for years.
Minty, that must have been a shock. An incandescent hair dryer!
No Tilly, unplug the hairdryer, get your tweezers and clear out all the fluff and hairs stuck in the back of it.
You don't want to set fire to your hair, Yilly :-)
If that doesn't work, get a ghd one, they are amazing. I got one as a gift

I need to wash my hair before Gness gets back, Yont. I do have standards.
when mine did that there was a removable filter at the back that was all clogged up. Try that first.
I'd be devastated if my current one packed up. 15 years and I still love it
Well you could towel dry it, Yilly.
Question Author
Yont, if I towel dried my hair, I would be a man.
Why is that then, Yilly ?.
Question Author
'Cos that's what men do, don't you know?
That's because they have so little, Tony
