Switching Tv on at the wall?

Does switching a tv straight on at the wall without switching it off at the tv switch beforehand (or any other electrical appliance) have any negative effect on the Tv? its a rear projection tv and im just thinking about the bulbs inside.

i think so, on most projection tv there is a fan that runs to cool the bulb for about 2/3 mins after turning it off at the set i wouldn't just unplug it,and the bulbs are expensive too.
