LED TV's Edge Lit or Backlit?

Is there much difference (In picture quality etc) between Edge Lit & Backlit LED TV's, and which do you prefer & why?

And just to be clear, there are 3 types of LED backlighting (listed in order of worst to best)

Edge (pretty much the same as CCFL back lighting)

Constant array (can give a more uniform back light than edge)

Dynamic array (the best, each individual LED behind the screen can be dimmed to give far blacker blacks)

I prefer plasma, but if you're only talking about LED then back light is better as it generally will give darker blacks and therefore better contrast.

Both types the OP is asking about are LED lit. (as opposed to CCFL lit)
And just to be clear, there are 3 types of LED backlighting (listed in order of worst to best)

The dynamic array is also more efficient because the LEDs are turned off behind the black pixels.

I bought a television last year and found that there was a 3:1 difference in the annual power consumption between the best and worst models.
